About La Chouffe
La Chouffe comes from Achouffe, a small village in the Belgian Ardennes. Two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts, started the Brasserie d'Achouffe there as a hobby in 1982. The gnome on the label, the 'chouffe', has become the brewery's best-known face.
Since 2006 the brewery has been part of Duvel Moortgat. La Chouffe itself is an unfiltered golden ale of 8% with a spicy touch of coriander.
