A beer doesn't cost the same everywhere. But how big are the differences really? We found out using the beer menus BierChecker reads.
How we calculated
We took every lager (between 4 and 5.6% alcohol, such as Heineken, Amstel, Grolsch and Hertog Jan, in glasses up to 50 cl) from 298 beer menus in 16 cities. A small glass, a regular glass and a half litre can't be compared directly, so we converted every price to a 25 cl glass. Per city we use the middle price (the median), so one expensive tourist bar doesn't skew the result.

Groningen is cheapest, at €3.13 per 25 cl. Amsterdam is the most expensive: €4.20. That's 34% more for the same glass.
Keep in mind
These are the prices on the menus as we read them; menus change, and the price at the venue always applies. A city only appears once 5 venues list a lager, and cities with few menus can still move around a lot. This page updates itself as new menus come in.
